Policy makers and industry representatives from the EU and Japan engaged in a dialogue at the InDiCo workshop during CEATEC 2020 and at the last EU-JP ICT Strategy Workshop. As a follow on from those exchanges, key stakeholders will reconvene to share their vision for Beyond 5G.
This InDiCo webinar will be co-chaired by European Commission's Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (EC DG CONNECT) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication of the Government of Japan (MIC). The longstanding cooperation between Japan and Europe has been instrumental in bringing to market some of the most disruptive innovations of 5G - and in defining common global standards together with International partners in 3GPP.
5G mobile technology has already been deployed in many regions of the world and we are seeing a wide range of applications flourishing, particularly in vertical domains such as e-health, industry 4.0 and transportation. 5G has also enabled some critical solutions to the challenges posed by the pandemic over the last 18 months.
Now is the time to define a strategy for the next generation of communication technology - to define a blueprint for research and create the conditions to enable more investment in breakthrough innovation, as well as to continue the standardization work for Beyond 5G.
This webinar will cover the following topics:
- Use cases to shape Europe's and Japan's Digital and Green future
- Policy support to Research and Innovation and Technology Focus
- Looking ahead at Standardization for beyond 5G
- Defining a cooperation roadmap for beyond 5G development
Speakers and panelists will include representatives from:
- Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication of the Government of Japan (MIC)
- European Commission's Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology
