A workshop where policy makers, regulators, industry and stakeholders from South-Korea and the EU will share their vision towards 6G and discuss related researches and standardization activities.
Following the successful definition of the 5G and 5G – Advanced standards, users and businesses around the world are now benefiting from 5G. Near real-time low latency combined with high bandwidth connectivity has resulted in the development and rollout of a wide variety of vertical applications that can capitalize on these new network capabilities - resulting in Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, eHealth and many others. Research and innovation resources are now focusing on the new technological building blocks that will form the basis of beyond 5G.
On June 2nd, 2021, the first EU-Korea Cooperation Workshop on the vision beyond 5G helped shape the early roadmap for 'beyond 5G'. New use cases and new requirements from South Korea and Europe were explored and discussed during this workshop.
This second workshop will be co-chaired by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (EC DG CONNECT) and the Ministry of Science Information and Technology of the Government of South Korea (MSIT) with the support of ETSI and TTA.
Objectives
This second EU-Korea workshop on Beyond 5G will provide an update on research and innovation programs launched in the EU and Korea in late 2021 and will focus on two specific technology building blocks: Multi-access Edge Computing and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces. Through the exchanges of information and interactive panel sessions, it will also aim to tighten the bonds between the ecosystems in these two regions.
